Family fun at the Church Hall
Sun, 27 Feb, 2022, 3:30pm @ Stoke Holy Cross Church Hall
As we come out of the other side of Covid, we’re finding ways to re-connect with families, and support others who might not have been in contact with church before. This Sunday 27th from 3.30-5pm, we’re beginning by holding an afternoon gathering at the church hall for all ages, with afternoon tea, party food, some prayer activities, well-being resources and time to chat and spend time together. We’ll be thinking about the feeding of the 5000 with the message that we’re all invited, and that God can give us more than enough in all the different areas of our lives.
If you're a family, please come along and let us know - but please read on, whoever you are!
We would like to be able to offer a food bank that afternoon, and so we would really appreciate any donations of
- dry/tinned foods with a long date,
- squash/juice,
- toiletries
- “treats” like biscuits, crisps, dried fruits etc.
You can drop them to the vicarage this week, or bring them along to church on Sunday morning.
We would also be very grateful for offers of baking, particularly of scones, so we can give everyone a delicious treat!
You are also obviously all very welcome to come along on Sunday afternoon - have a think and pray about who you might invite, too, and bring them along.
Let us know if you’re able to help in any of those ways, or if you have any questions!

Stoke Church big fundraising quiz!
Sat, 18 Jul, 2020, 7pm @ Online
Join us for an evening of fun, entertainment, good company, shared dinner, quizzes and an exciting auction of promises.
We are fundraising in aid of our partner churches in Tanzania and the Stoke Holy Cross church building fund.
Tables are booking up fast so don’t delay, book your place today! It’s a snip at just £5 per person.
Ideally we want to ask people to book a table and then fill it with family and friends so we can maximise the fundraising potential. If you can’t fill a table and still want to join in then let us know and we’ll try and put you together with others in a similar position.
The whole evening will be held online and you’ll be able to share part of the evening privately with your family and friends in “tables” using Zoom Breakout Rooms. We will auction off “promises" during the evening and welcome any promises you would like to offer. Promises could be a service (for example BabySitting, Car Washing or Gardening…) or a physical thing (such as a cake, a meal, a holiday…). The only limit is your imagination!
For more information contact andy@thehardings.uk, whilst to reserve a table or place, contact carole@thehardings.uk.
Alternatively call us on 01603 782667.
Please make online payments to STOKE HOLY CROSS PAROCHIAL CHURCH COUNCIL using the account number 00865680, sort code 206253 & reference FUNDRAISING. Payment can also be made by cheque (payable to STOKE HOLY CROSS PAROCHIAL CHURCH COUNCIL). Please write FUNDRAISING on the back of the cheque and pop it through Rob’s letterbox.

The Bible Course
Thu, 11 Jun, 2020, 7:15pm @ https://zoom.us/j/92066232409
Whether you are brand new to the Bible or very familiar with it, excited to get stuck into the Scriptures or a little bit lacking in enthusiasm, we think you will love the Bible course. It takes a look at the whole Bible over 8 weeks, and invites us into the big story of God's plan for the whole of human history. We'll start at the beginning, end at the end, and do a whole lot more in-between. Why don't you spend a minute looking at the video below to get an idea of it?
I've got a few questions...
- Do I have to just sit and watch the vicar talking all evening? No! The course consists of some video clips which we will all watch together, and then everyone gets to join in with some discussion questions. It will work best if we all do the same amount of talking!
- I miss my home group. Can I catch up with them somehow? Yes! We'd love all our homegroups to join in, and if there are enough of us joining in we can use Zoom to split you down to existing groups to talk together, and to catch up and pray at the end. We'll add new people in to existing groups or create new ones depending on numbers.
- Is there material I can use to help me in between the meetings? Yes, as part of each week we will offer you some things to read every day until the next session so that you really get into the habit of reading the Bible for yourself, and experiencing God speak to you in this way, over the next couple of months.
- Do I have to know lots about the bible? No, it is designed to provide a bible overview to inspire people to start reading the bible, and encourage others to pick it up again or keep going deeper.
- Is there a course handbook? Yes, we have uploaded a printable course handbook to our website here. If you would like to buy printed copies for you and your friends (£4.99 each) click here.
- Will there be coffee and biscuits and stuff? We may just be able to meet together towards the end of the course, depending on the lockdown, but for now we are afraid that we have to meet online, so no, you will need to sort out your own biscuits.
Sound good? We think so! Click HERE from 7.15pm on Wednesday to join the meeting.

Easter Fun NOT at the Park
Fri, 10 Apr, 2020, 4pm @ Online
We are welcoming all famiies to join us online at the Vicarage at 4pm tomorrow for games, activities, songs, and a little bit of the Easter story. It's DEFINITELY online and not in person, and definitely NOT at the Park this year! There will be lots and lots for everyone to join in with at home, and we hope to see you there. It would be great if you wanted to show off an Easter hat or costume or facepaints, and if you could have a few simple craft supplies ready - paper, scissors, pens, and any junk you might be able to sellotape together if we get that far. To get a Zoom code to join us online just email by clicking on ROB ideally before Good Friday lunchtime, but we'll be checking until just before we start. See you there!
